CiA®450: CANopen profile for pumps

Nuremberg, Germany,  February 25, 2010. CAN in Automation (CiA) has released the version 1.0 of the CiA 450 CANopen profile for pumps. The profile is based on bus-independent profile published by the VDMA association of German machine builders. It covers generic and liquid (rotary dynamic) pump devices. The support of Heartbeat functionality is mandatory. There are two sets of Process Data Objects (PDOs) specified: One for generic pumps and another one for rotary dynamic pumps. The 273-pages profile specifies the mapping of the VDMA profile to CANopen-based networks. The specification is only available for CiA members; an excerpt will be released soon.
